How your Fence or Railing is shipped
All orders are normally shipped by truck freight (common carriers) directly to your home or project site. The cost is based on the state to which your order is being shipped. See the Freight Rate Table shown below.
We pay freight costs on all orders over $3,000 to any of the continental 48 states! (Custom rolled channel (or estate) gates and cantilever gates are excluded as they most often need to be shipped by private truck.) Please note, that for Residential Deliveries, there is always a flat $100 delivery fee that is added to the Freight amount on your Quote or Order Confirmation. This fee cannot be waived.
Small items may be shipped by UPS, FedEx, etc., so they will carry small shipping charges which are not considered freight charges.
Delivery
Trucking companies only require their drivers to move items to the back of the truck to be unloaded by the recipient. We have no control over this, that is how the freight business works.
So, you may wish to plan on having two people available to receive your shipment. Many drivers will help with this, but they are not required to do so. In our experience, the majority of the drivers are nice, considerate people. But, we don't want you to be upset with us should the driver not be helpful.
Typically, orders ship in multiple boxes on pallets wrapped in a protective plastic sheeting. To simplify unloading, the individual boxes may be removed from the pallets.
Some trucking companies offer additional services, such as off-loading, for an extra fee. You can call the company that is bringing your fence if you wish to pay them directly for whatever additional services they may offer.
Damage
It is important to understand, that damage may occur during shipping. It's rare, but it can happen. All damages are the responsibility of the trucking company and not the manufacturer or Aluminum Fence Specialists.
So, its important that someone be there at delivery to inspect the packages and sign for them. It is best that this is you or someone who can act for you. DO NOT sign the bill of lading without noting on it any damages and have the delivery driver sign it as well. This will ensure that you can then place a claim with the responsible trucking company. If you sign a "clean" bill of lading, you will not be able to get reimbursed by the trucking company.
In the case of damage, call the terminal number listed on the bill of lading immediately to start your claim. Be sure to keep any damaged materials for inspection by the trucking company as they may not honor claims if there is no proof of damage.
Changes / Cancellations
If you decide to make any changes to your order, please call us immediately, since changes can be made to your order if requested prior to your order entering the production cycle. This is typically within 24 hours of order placement. Changes may not be made after production has begun.
Orders may be cancelled prior to shipping for standard fences, standard gates, standard railings, etc. Custom orders, which include but are not limited to, 'flush bottom" fence panels other than the standard UAB-400 and UAB-200 pool fences, anything over 8' tall, gates not made to full inch widths, rolled channel and cantilever gates or any other special requests, such as rakeable or heavy rakeable fence panels, or special stair angles, may not be cancelled. Any cancellations after the order has been shipped will be considered a Return as described in the next section.
Returns
Returns must be pre-approved by the manufacturer, Ultra Aluminum Mfg., Inc., who will provide a Returned Materials Authorization (RMA) number prior to the return. Any materials returned without this RMA will be refused by the manufacturer.
All returned materials must be shipped back, at your expense, in the original packing and cartons and arrive damage free. Used, damaged or materials that were installed prior to return will not be accepted.
All returns are subject to a 25% re-stocking fee. Any material that is damaged during a return will be charged as well and the stocking fee, shipping and damages will be deducted from the amount refunded.
Rate Table
All the freight rates shown in this table will be paid by AFS for all orders over $3,000 delivered in the continental U.S.
Special orders (including rolled channel and cantilever gates), oversize custom orders and shipments outside the continental U.S. are not covered and will be quoted before purchase.
All Residential Orders will carry the $100 Residential Delivery fee regardless of total order amount.
